Tracking deployment progress in SnapShot

This document describes how you can track progress of a SnapShot initiated metadata deployment.

When you initiate a metadata deployment, Salesforce offers the ability to track the progression of that deployment through Deploy > Deployment Status > View Details page. This page provides the facility to identify and solve issues as they come up instead of waiting for the deployment to complete. To see these details, however, you will need to switch from your tool of choice to Salesforce browser and back. That context switch breaks the flow.

To keep you in the groove, SnapShot now offers the ability to track progress and stream deployments updates as they come. When you are executing deployments, you are now moved into a screen that displays continuous updates that show:

  • Status of deployment (Waiting, InProgress, Cancelled etc.)
  • Metadata Type being processed
  • Total number of metadata components
  • Number of metadata components errored out
  • Number of metadata components successful
  • List of errors - no more waiting for the deployment to complete

To see the stream of deployment progress, use the Push Assets or Delete Assets wizard to initiate the deployment.

This is another one of our usability changes to help you track and deploy changes faster, easier. Please stay tuned to hear about more of these changes.
