Snapshot updates - 02-03-2012 (redirected from snapshot updates - 02-03-2012)

As part of our drive to improve usability, we have made some bold changes to improve the way our customers migrate assets. These changes are discussed below:

Improved Push Sequence

We are changing the two step wizard to a three step wizard to improve readability and to accommodate future changes. The first step to choose destination and take a backup remains untouched. The second and final step has been split into two. The initial screen will allow users to construct the Job List. To avoid too much confusion, we have left the options to construct the Job List untouched.

The second and final screen displays the created/ loaded Job List and then provides the user with the Push Options.

You can move between the two screens using the Next and the Edit buttons.

We believe that this significantly increases the available space to see and select items to be added to the Job List drastically. Further more, with the increased amount of room to read the Results, the amount of time spent in exporting to view salesforce's response is cut down.

Differentiation between New and Updates items

One of the problems that we were plagued during the Push process was the inability to distinguish between the New and Updated items. This was a major problem especially if you were combining two sandbox Orgs. To ease that issue, we have introduced a new color (Orange) to identify New items in the Asset and Job Lists. The Updated items retain the Red color.

We believe that this change clearly improves the usability of the Asset and Job Lists.

Similar Assets Report

In the recent past, the request for the ability to compare similar type of assets within the same Org and identify duplicates had been steadily increasing. In line with our customer requests, we have released this feature to compare any asset to identify assets that are possible duplicates.

Look for it under the Reports menu and is named "Similar Assets...".
